oh boy. words cannot fathom such stupidity.

Wife: how was your day? Husband: I gave a man soaked in kerosene a cigarette and a lighter. I was completely shocked when he burst into flames. Wife: eehhhh? Kerosene is easily ignited by a naked flame? How were you to know. You are a policeman, not a scientist. Husband: exactly. its not my fault. They don't teach science at police school unless you want to be a science cop like on TV. wife: and whats more you should be commended for your big heart. You let a criminal have a cigarette. Its not your fault it all went up in smoke. husband: hahaha hahaha hahaha. All went up in smoke! Thats a good one. Whats for dinner? Wife: I thought we might go to a yakiniku restaurant to take your mind off things. Husband: Good thinking. Let me change out of this uniform. It smells strange.

This story actually made "The Mens Room" radio show here in Seattle today just to show that no matter in what country inept police may be, we can all laugh at them worldwide.

hey JT why dont yo put an updated or similar when you do updates??!?!?! It makes all the earlier posts look daft!

    OK rant done.

J-cops have got to cut down on the kendo & judo training & do some serious commen sense training cud to wonders, I mean you have a guy douced in FLAMMABLE LIQUID, a danger to himself & others & the surrounding area shud a fire start, so what do the cops do, they DONT call the, rady for this......................................................................................the F I R E D E P T!!!!!!!!!!

Where can I see the video?

Why is it that the cops in this country seem to lack any real common sense.

Common sense and Japan as a whole don`t go hand in hand.. not just the keystones..

borscht...totally agree. If a truck driver falls asleep at the wheel and has an accident that kills someone, he gets charged with something like professional negligence resulting in death. How is this any different? Why are J-cops not subject to something more than "considering disciplinary action". What nonsense.

BTW ... JT beat ya with that headline pun :-D

  • Nessie at 04:57 PM JST - 13th May

Here they will get a deep bow and Im guessing the officers will get a slap on the wrist.

They'll also have to pay token condolence money, too, most likely. Now we know why the cops are so against videotaping questioning sessions.

  • motown at 07:02 PM JST - 13th May

Apparently the Popos GAVE him the lighter and a pack of ciggies 'cos he kept whining on about needing a smoke. He got smoked all right!

  • motown at 10:35 PM JST - 13th May

According to the newspaper, the popos GAVE him the lighter and the ciggies despite NOT being in one of the smoking rooms of the station. They are sure to be reprimanded for not moving him to a smoking area first.

Romulus3 ... lol! If it was the fire department instead of the police that did this then Nagoya would be in for hard times.

  • kokuryu at 04:14 AM JST - 14th May

You are kidding, right? Wow, this one had me rolling on the floor laughing! Were the cops bored? Were the cops drunk? I cannot imagine anyone being that stupid to give someone doused in kerosine a lighter! They could have given him an unlit cigarrete, but to give him a fire maker - and were they suprised that he lit up like a fireball? Sheesh... I bet that motown is right and all they get is a reprimand for not moving him to a smoking area first.

This sounds like an episode of The Simpsons featuring officer Wiggum.

  • amerijap at 03:09 AM JST - 15th May

I can't believe the cops are so dumb clueless bozos! They should be indicted for the man's assisted suicide.

  • bushlover at 01:29 AM JST - 19th May

These cops are so smart they disguise premeditated murder with ineptness. Pure geniuses!! I bet they really had something to do with that Ishihashi kid's disappearance too.
