“I found that what they want is a laugh every day,” he said. “They want funny pictures.”

I'm still waiting. Putting it on the Funnies pages doesn't automatically make it funny. All of that pap - BB, Garfield, Noodles, anything in the Japan Times Funnies section - is utter dross.

Totally agree. I'm still waiting for someone to show me what is funny about Peanuts.

I'd never even heard of Beetle Bailey, and after reading a few, I found out why.

Ahh, you guys just don't know! Beetle is way cool! Been reading him for years. Hope Mort can still draw him for the next 20 years!

I haven't Beetle Bailey in years, but I just might start again. Even if it's not funny, it's relaxing to read.

Just had a look at the Japan Times comics online - quite a few made me laugh.

If you want unfunny, read Zippy the Pinhead.

Stupid just as baka as could be possible. The Army of Beetle Bailey disappeared with the 1950's.

Yep, but Oh, so much better and classically more amusing than the other crap that's out there today.

Agree that all of the one line "funnies" in the papers are rubbish. Never funnhy, just trite and dumb. Beetle is just one example - outdated. would be more relevant to see him shaping up to a tour in Iraq.....

You guys just don't know, yeah, it might be a bit outdated, but Beetle was really a good read and funny too.
