I hope Giovanni Battista Sidotti's mortal remains are returned to his homeland and that the link between Japan and Italy gets that little bit more stronger.

Fascinating find and article as well. I'm particular interested in this small period of history in Japan.

It's in Koishikawa, Bunkyo-ku. Nearest station is Myogadani on the Marunouchi subway line. This site has some good photos of what can be seen if you go there. There are also some suitably chilling ghost stories about the area.
