Book corner: Kanji no Satori

Many students of Japanese find learning kanji to be the hardest part of mastering the language. Not just the characters themselves, but also how they are used, seems quite complicated and mysterious.

"Kanji no Satori," written by Steve Thenell, is designed to clear up that mystery, giving the kanji learner insight into what is really going on with the characters, and most importantly, building a solid foundation for learning that makes mastering thousands of characters not seem like an impossible task.

The book thoroughly covers important topics such as how the characters are constructed and how they are used in the writing of the Japanese language, and is a great asset to any student of Japanese.

The book is written in English and is presently for sale on several Amazon sites, including the U.S. site and numerous European sites, including the UK, as well as the Japanese Amazon site.

Thenell first went to Japan in 2004, to teach English, and became fascinated with kanji at that time. He has worked in education, academic publishing, and animation. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University.

@Vee_David This KanjiHybrid method may only help with the Meaning of Kanjis but offers no solution for how they should be read, how they sound. The book presented here has a great emphasis on how we read kanjis and is not merely a mnemonic technique.
