A lousy frustrating read...but watch out for the perverts in Japan..betcha it'll increase! I don't recommend it.

As though SM is an entirely unknown concept here.

It's just likely to encourage men to insist on submission from their women, who will feel pressure to agree.

Nothing wrong with SM if both people are into it, but it's no fun at all when you don't want to be doing it.

This book annoys the hell out of me. It's written incredibly poorly. Also anyone with a decent sex life wont find it that interesting.

NO0o........

never heard of it, guess thats one of the benefits of living here haha

Isn't this just a piece of fan fiction that was reworked? From the excerpts I've read online it is poorly written.... but then I remember reading 70s 'erotic' novels which were pretty dire too. Expect to see more ladies with bruises.

If you've never heard of this atrocity, here's a hilarious preview (NSFW!....obviously) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FV-nuhlB5A

I bet the Japanese can come up with something better!

producing what Yorimitsu said was a “nail-biting page turner.”

Ha. I don't think the readers' fingers are meant to be in their mouths.

All my life I've been trying to treat women with respect and sensitivity. Now it turns out what they really want is a good hiding. Bah!

Yeah I've read it, try to imagine "twilight" but cheesier and erotic. I've read an article that said the novel originally was a fanfiction of "twilight".

English is my second language but i can tell that the narrative is poor, I have all the intentions of spoiling for you, but I think that if the female target read it they will find themselves that "submissive" is "in"

Yeah expect more bruises....

A lousy frustrating read

You seriously read this book? Why?

This book annoys the hell out of me

You too? It isnt the book that deserves criticism ya know

Yeah I've read it

Really?? Please tell me you arent a man.

All my life I've been trying to treat women with respect and sensitivity.

Now you know better. Women dont want a hiding but they do want to dominated, but only by certain kinds of men. But it is a dirty secret that would ruin the illusion of equality. Shhh

This book might well be worth a shuffle through : )

That there are women out there who like this book depresses the hell out of me. Especially on an intelligence level.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Meh. It's been "all the rage" here in the States, but not once have I been inclined to go buy it and read it. I guess the main reason for my lack of interest is the book was aimed at all those divorced "cougars" out there who are done with their former husbands and are on the prowl again for some "horizontal bop". That, plus the S/M angle really isn't my thing (though as Maria said above, if both parties are agreeable then there's nothing inherently wrong with it).

submission from their women, who will feel pressure to agree

Why will they?

Yeah I've read it

Of course I'm not a man.... but If I want to punish someone with bad reading I'd recommend this book.... No seriously, It isn't worth the paper which is printed, I read it digitally.... But I can criticize it freely because I know what it is about...

Yawn

I hope not. There are already enough rubbishy "ero-fiction" books here without this nonsense being added.

It's pretty hard to take women seriously.

"All my life I've been trying to treat women with respect and sensitivity."

Which is what they've been saying they want. Respect, sensitivity, equality and a man who washes dishes etc. It's best to just ignore what women say they want. They themselves have no idea.

In the US much of the hype about this book was manufactured by the media. I wonder how much they were paid to have features about how this book was sweeping the country. i know nobody in the US who has read it or even has any interest in it. There are copies of it everywhere in the US ,including the grocery store collecting dust so I really think this may have been more of a good marketing hype than an actual trend or popular book in the US. I am sure some people saw the hype on TV that everyone is reading it and went right out to buy a copy.

Which is why you've started a thread on the JT forums calling your wife a complete loon who has apparently has no redeeming qualities at all because she's apparently no longer the bikini wearing Japanese nympho you used to go to the beach with so many years ago.

I haven't read the book, and don't intend to. I agree with others here that stated that there is nothing wrong with SM(or whatever people get up to to get their freak on) between consenting adults. But from what I read about this book its contents isn't even about SM erotica but rather thinly veiled abuse.

Fifty Shades of Glay?

-Why,If my woman should read such a book ,i'd have to blindfold ,gag &give her an enema after i hogtied her, made her feel like 2 cents lookin' for change, spat on her & the devil only knows what else on a daily basis-But If thats what Baby likes,That's what Daddy will do!!

Fifty Shades of Glay?

LOL! that reminds me that there are a lot of fanfiction with L'Arc~en~Ciel, in which we have Kenki, Haistu, sakuhai, and many other combinations, there are so many that you can find better narrative in one of them than fifty shades...

wow even the title is lousy
