Good article. But it also brings to mind a problem with Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros. version of the Godzilla character. He has been rendered "an allegory of what?"

    I blogged about it here:http://armandsrancho.blogspot.com/2014/06/godzilla-still-relevant-after-60-years.html

I hope Japanese audiences aren't too disappointed with the recent Godzilla reboot.

It was boring as heck for many parts, took such a long time for Godzilla to appear.

Did I miss something here? WHAT THEATER is the original movie being shown for two weeks in Tokyo? Would love to see this and then buy the DVD!

    Godzilla rocks!

I like the pic of the little kid running away. I can picture the caption, "I'm outta here!"

Been a fan of Godzilla since the early 1970s, and have to say that apart from a couple of them from the late 1960s (Revenge and Hedorah movies) I have enjoyed all of them. I don't care if he's a man in a rubber suit... so was the Alien in "ALIEN", so was the Predator. A CGI rendition can be more like a real animal, but knowing that there is a real beating heart inside the suit makes it more real to me.

I went to see the recent Hollywood one, it was ok entertainment, but still somewhat underwhelming. But at least Godzilla in the reboot actually looked like the original and not some weird and spiky T-Rex like in the '98 version.
