That description applies to almost every film made in Hollywood. (With the possible exception of films by Woody Allen.)

Dystopian films aren't new, nor are the novels:1984, Brave New World, Atlas Shrugged, V for Vendetta, Fahrenheit 451, Gattica, to name a few.
