Thanks for yet another affirmation of how movie audiences, and the human race at large, is dumbing down at a record pace.

America is great, watching people beat the living h*ck out of each other is fine and dandy, but people get all up in arms over the word a** or Janet Jackson's nipple.

    haha.

    Its all so stupid.

I can understand worrying about kids picking up bad words, but adults should not be offended by thier own language. Sticks and stones....

And who knows HOW this title is going to end up in Japanese... :-/

Moderator: The distributor is using the original title in katakana.

    cadmium

I bet it's renamed to "Nazi Hunter" in Japan.

So is the distributor going to transliterate the title correctly, or is it going to be another "Char-ree-zoo En-jeru" mash-up, this time suggesting that there's only one "Basutard-o"?

Any idea why the release date has been pushed back? It was originally slated in for the first week of October :-(

"tricky" ? yeah, if you don't have the brainpower to figure it out

  • 0

    Sarge

I won't be wasting my time or money on this movie.

Please explain, then, why the title words are spelled the way they are.

    HalcyonDaze

So he rips off the name from an old Italian movie and changes the spelling to make it look original. Some great "stroke" of artistry.

Sounds like a Stoopid Basterd to me...

    HalcyonDaze: hahahahaha classic

Sarge: You'd love it. It's an awesome movie.

Tarentino, Peckinpah and Sergio Leone, Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson. These guys basically function as human laxatives for filmgoers who seem to obtain a catharsis from watching portrayals of gratuitous violence.

    benhur

“I’m never going to explain that,” Tarantino said

    he doesn't know..

    IvanCoughalot

Beelzebub - bet you wouldn't say that to Clint...

    Weasel

Another "wait three months till it hits DVD before I'll watch it on Netflix" movie.

    bokudayo

    Whenever someone says something like...

"If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand even if I told you."

...you know they're full of it.

    gamera

I saw it on Friday. I loved it.

    kenchan

In the UK I have seen posters for the film with the letters of "basterds" replaced with bullet holes...so there has been censorship issues...

Beelzebub> Which films do u need to watch to be able to use such AMAZING words in yr post?...human laxatives? I read yr post and need to go to the toilet!

    PleasureGelf

'Definately' dysgraphia, commonly 'nown' as dylexia. And I don't mean on Tarantino's part.

Kenchan, you have to love censors with guns, riddling posters with bullets.

    fairyprince

For those that have seen it, I am under the impression that there may be a part 2 to the film.

Can you confirm or reject these suspicions please?

  • 0

    IvanCoughalot

I don't see why this is an issue anyway - it's not being released here until November 20th. Maybe this once again being the last place on Earth where a major motion picture is released will buy the diligent translators a bit of breathing space?

    chsf

Tarantino says there will be a prequel.

From France : thank you Beelzebub !

Much ado about a mediocre film... Maybe this empty discussion about the semantics of the title is the focal point of the film.

And above all : fascism, nazism, shoah etc are no material for comedies.

It is not called "ripping off" it is called an " 'omage".

    Totally different........not.

    Bizarro

“When you do an artistic flourish like that, to describe it, to explain it, would just ... invalidate the whole stroke in the first place.

A little full of ourselves, are we?

    Cheers,

November 20??? It'll be on Betamax in the US by then. The sound track on 8-track.

I saw this movie in America on my vacation. Without Brad Pitt this movie is so so !!!! The first 20 minutes of the movie was great. But after that it turns to crap. G.I. Joe is a better movie than this.
