The kimono in the photo are beautiful - very elegant. I'd love to see some more examples by this designer.

Is it true that the undergarment for a kimono is just a thin slip and no panties so no "lines" are apparent? Just "curious"...

I met Mr. Saito about 2 years ago at a small exhibition of his work in Tohoku. The kimono on display were so beautiful that my wife almost fainted when she was offered to try one on. Unfortunately, we were pressed for time and she could not do so. His garments are quite expensive, but I suppose you could consider it an investment in art rather than wardrobe.

I wear kimono very very often and I have never felt restricted or "subservient" in any way. LOL In fact, when you have everything you need at hand, many accesories and items of different patterns and colors...wearing kimono becomes very easy and comfortable. But you need to be in shape though. Kimono looks best in toned, shaped women. I said bone-skinny or too obese may be a little inconvenient for this type of garment...I'm nor sure.
Another stereotype...
There are still a considerable amount of people who wears kimono often and not only for "special occasions". Go to Kyoto, Nagoya and other big cities besides Tokyo. There are people that wear kimono for a living. (Not only the Tea sensei and the Mama-san) . Personally, I wear kimono twice a month at the very least. ;)
