I remember I read somethig similar before (by Koontz), Life Expectancy. Unless "What the Night Knows" is a story of posession, it sounds as a version of Life Expectancy. And yes, I prefer "The Taking"-that was really scary!

Just the way I like his books and a few other writers Books. If I want light-hearted I go for Terry Prattchet, etc.

Koontz is such a hack--couldn't even finish the only book by his I had the misfortune to buy. Couldn't stand his right-wing screed snippets pouring out of writing clearly intended for the illiterate masses.

it seems it is so easy to get stalked as this book shows. I am so scared that somebody like the character in the book can stalk me, I am so sad and fearful and even terrified...I do not like to read such scary books...

I only read 2 books by Koontz, but they were great. Can fully understand he is so popular.

Koontz has quiet a following, on average I prefer him over King.

King did some great books, but Koontz speaks more to me.

Koontz is good but almost every story of his I've read seems to have a dog shoehorned into it. You like dogs, great, we KNOW already!

These kind of books raise cruelty in human beings. Stalkers are cruel. I am scared to death of them.

Dean Koontz is a Top Ten book list kind of guy isn't he, a well-known name. I've never read anything by him, is it thriller, horror?

Why is JT reviewing him? Koontz is massively popular and doesn't especially need the publicity, and there's no Japan connection is there?

It'd make more sense to see reviews by Japanese authors, or debut writings, or books about Asia.

JT having a reviewing a pulp paperback like this seems a bit...lazy.

Moderator: His books are sold in Japan and our readers are all over the world. So why shouldn't we carry a story about his new book?

    Maria.

Yes, he is thriller, horror suspense. Think kinda Stephen King.

From the few I have read, I think Koons stories are better crafted and less contrived for horror effects than Kings.

Anyone hear read "Hideaway" by him, IMHO, that was a good one. Not recommended reading for LoveUSA though.

Not recommended reading for LoveUSA though.

I need therapy after reading, hearing or noticing anything about stalkers. i have been stalked before and am full of dread and horror. I have developed severe paranoia but it is a result not from instable mental state but the result of cruel criminal intent of wrong doers... :( So I hope you understand my sensitivity on this terrible subject.

REad this, dont you find it disturbing:

a madman stalked families, and his horrific crimes terrified various neighborhoods ...a ghost coming back to wreck vengeance and haunt ... true terror in print
