Hope Luttrell takes the profits and donates the bulk to charity. Otherwise, he would be a scumbag profiting off of a mission that was a tragic failure. He should send some of the money to the Afghans that risked their lives to keep him alive and out of the hands of the Taliban, without their incredible bravery this story would have had a very different ending. Also, not sure why Berg says he went to Iraq during his research.

More Hollywood war promotion propaganda. Even the anti-war war films sure seem to entice foolish young men and violence loving young men alike.

America needs to kick the war junkie habit and stop making these damned films glorifying men violently invading places they never should have been.

No one will want to join the military watching this - the whole thing is a disaster. If anything this story reinforces the age old reason men fight - for the guy next to them. Please show me a country / culture that doesnt glorify the military / war in some fashion - there are very few (Barbados, Guatemala, San Marino, Andorra, Luxembourg). At any rate, the US govt. doesnt control the movie industry. Regarding this story in particular, I`ve read the book and Luttrell is a bible-thumping Texan so there is a lot of crap about how great Texas is and how Jesus, blah, blah, blah. At the end of the day, the movie industry is a business that puts butts in seats and sells popcorn. This will be a 2 hour action escape and probably worth seeing on the big screen.

If Luttrell is a Bible thumping Chrisitan is totally irrelevant. More power to him, if he is and finds spiritual belief. Everyone has a right to believe in whatever they want, and if if people don't agree with it, move along. He's not pushing his beliefs on you, so why care? I applaud him for it, but that's my opinion. The man has a right to tell his story. The President wrote two books, when will they make a movie about that? Hollywood can make as many movies as they want and Luttrell had an amazing story to tell.

If you anyone doesn't like it, there are plenty of other genre movies to choose from. If it's not war, then it's horror, suspense or sex etc.Hollywood is in the business of making movies, with over 300+ movies a year! there is something for every palette. How an individual will interpret the movie is up to that individual watching it. I love and deeply respect our brave men and women and if other people do not, that's there right, even though they are a minority in the country. But there is not substantiated proof that watching a war movie will entice a person to want to go to war, no less than a person watching a ghost movie wanting to be a ghost chaser.

I think they need to do more, in fact, these men and women sacrificed a lot for our freedoms and of course we have every right to go anywhere where there is an existential threat that could harm US citizens or interest and deal with it accordingly.

All war is disaster. People are drawn to war, disaster and drama. That is why we watch these movies. Some people are drawn so much, they crave to be in the middle of it. They should not be encouraged to war.

Straw man argument. You can make that argument about porn, western, romance or anything. People have the right to choose and watch whatever they want. If YOU don't like it, you have the option to turn the channel to watch something you like. I love war movies, drama etc. nothing wrong with it.

So bass, does that work in reverse? Do other countries have every right to go into the USA in the event of an existential threat that could harm their citizens and deal with it accordingly?

Movies like this are chest-thumping propaganda. They are good for a bit of escapism but the involvement of the US government (Defense Department) means the government sees the recruiting potential of these movies.

But there aren't any. Nice try.

And why not? Nothing wrong with the military or wanting to be a part of the armed services. If they are not interested, they won't sign up, that simple.
