Good story. The truth is usually very far from what is portrayed in Hollywood. The term 'cowboy' used to be considered derogatory, also, and was originally used to refer to non-white cattlemen.

'Magnificent 7' revives forgotten story of black cowboys

Say Whaa~ ?? The Magnificent 7 was originally based on an old samurai story. A story in which the 7 samurai protected others and gave riches to the poor.

. . . kinda' liked the ole' Steve McQueen in the US (magnificent 7) version myself-

Should be good - Antoine Fuqua has made some good films with 'Training Day' being one of the best movies of all time. I forgot where I read it (probably some Wikipedia vortex), but I believe Seven Samurai was based on an even older cowboy movie by John Ford. Everything is a remix

Training Day was a terrific movie, but one of the best movies of all time is a bit much. Id say your test sample is way too low

The white exceptionalism shown here is hilarious.
