No. Runs counter to the Dr Who tradition. Which is pretty lame anyway. i am more Trek than Who.

What are the odds on an asian transgender bisexual muslim Polish migrant? Its the BBC after all, I'm sure its already been done on Eastenders.

Some "academics" recently claimed that Dr Who was "thunderingly racist" because the Doctor was always played by a white man. In doing so they exposed their own racial prejudices by ignoring the fact that the Doctor is not a human, but a Time Lord. As such, the racial and sexual distributions of humans have no relevance to the appearance and sex of the Doctor.

Mind you, it is the BBC, so davestrousers is probably on the right track with his prediction, although he has forgotten about the need to represent the disabled.

Isn't he running out of 'regenerations' already?

He's got one regeneration left after the Christmas one - 12 regenerations, 13 bodies... such an anorak lol

i love it- you put an alien in the story to try to put to rest the ills and travails of the world for casting- yet allow the person to address all the faults from the writers perspectives- so you have episodes on global warming, frank commentary on the US during the gulph war, support for gay rights - strong support for women in power -

and it all comes down to how to take an alien and make them human to follow our need for current social more' justice

hilarious

he's an alien - it's a tv show- and he is hitting everything on the checklist people- don't destroy a good show
