I wonder what other Nazi-era pseudosciences will enjoy a renaissance in Japan?

its just another excuse to justify limited interaction with other humans...best to stay at home in your 'virtual' world where you can hit the reset button anytime

Nazi-era pseudosciences, Religion or the "flying spagetti monster" are all equally stupid. Anything that is not scientifically proven should be looked upon with scepticism because it is conterproductive in a modern society as it limits an individuals curiosity of their surroundings. The world is all to wonderful as it is without having to come up with imaginary and stupid explainations for its splendor.

The blood type craze is also one such eye-roller, the wikipedia link is very forthcoming in saying that the craze died out in Japan along with other trappings of the 30s, and that it's only recently, for profit, that it has returned.

This only makes fodder for those who feel Japan hasn't changed or can't change.

This trend can only end, gentle reader, if you politely notify said blood-type opinionator that they are perpetuating formerly Nazis pseudoscience and should stop doing that. Start a new trend called "Learning from History". Weird I know

A 35-year-old company employee in Aichi Prefecture said she began to consider her blood-type-B husband’s words and deeds in a favorable way after reading the first book in the series. She now talks more with her husband than before with the book a part of their conversation.

    Sounds good to me.

Blaise Pascal quote "The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing." If it gets people talking building relations having families and kids. It might be the answer to having more children. Good Blood types. Love that first comment. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA..AAaa..

still no idea of my blood type - if the doctors need to know I am sure they can find out pretty quick and as I can not donate blood in this country I am happy to live on in ignorance.

In a society where it is difficult to develop your own identity, anything that looks scientific is welcome when it supports you in doing things different from anybody else. If people knew more how unique and precious everyone is, created in the image of God, they would not need this kind of theory. We must encourage others to be themselves, but in this age it seems to be easier to be a copy. Yet in the end people get so isolated that they welcome anythings that gives them recognition.

  • aikisako at 09:17 PM JST - 19th March

Many items are covered in a manual form categorizing such things as people’s behavioral patterns and ways to associate with others

Back to the old 'how to'. This is so psychobabble backwards.

The Imperial Japanese army looked into it and debunked it in '27 I believe it was,the same year that they figured out that tofu was a calcium blocker.

I think blood types have become a useful tool to communicate with other people in the midst of weakening human relationships.

    What a sad situation.

My blood type is O, but I usually try to answer AB if I'm asked (particularly by young Japanese women) which blood type I belong to. It's kind of fun to listen to what they say like " I knew it " or " I can't believe it " or something.

I think English speakers who are annoyed at the blood type theory, just want to protect their individuality... which is, to the Japanese, synonimous with being anti-social.

Japanese speakers who don't want to dismiss the blood type theory are just being open minded and social in their own way... which is - ironically - seen as anti-social in the English speakers' eyes.
