Finally at last some progress in the supply chain...

No hope that they would do likewise with vegetables and we might get cheaper and fresher vegetables.

hopefully this will be a start, way way too many middle millions in Jpn jacking the price of everything up!

Another page from Walmart's playbook. Become huge, then directly solicit farmers and manufactures, cutting out the middle man, and allowing consumers to get products cheaper.

once japan gets rid of most of the middlemen - prices will be much more reasonalbe. i am tired of thinking what the cut for the middleman is everytime i buy. let them get off their duffs and do some real work.

I do weekly shopping at Aeon. This is very good news. I have always, all these 40 years in this country, found fault with the distribution system. The wrong pockets are being lined too much.

what you buy from whom at what price, should be confidential. However, if Aeon is to set a new trend, they should tell us how much they will save by avoiding middlemen and what net price benefit consumer can enjoy. Unwanted publicity, even if they save few million yens they are not going to pass on to consumers.

If Aeon can cut out profit-taking-good-for-nothing middlemen, that's good. If that funnels more income to the struggling fishermen, that's good. If that keeps more Aeon outlets in business, that's good. If that does not raise prices further for the consumers, that's good.
