Ajinomoto to raise seasoning prices for 1st time in 28 years

TOKYO —

Ajinomoto Co said Friday it will raise the prices of its “ Ajinomoto” monosodium glutamate seasonings, its signature product, by about 10% to reflect higher raw material and packaging costs. The price hike, the first in 28 years, will be applied to shipments from Nov 1.

The company will also raise the prices of 22 other products for household use by 5 to 10% and the prices of 52 commercial-use products by 3 to 14%.

great way to celebrate their 100th anniversary (ajinomoto, the fifth taste, was discovered in 1908 by Ikeda, professor of chemistry at Tokyo University, who broke the taboo and patented it and formed a company)

All these stories about prices increases. You have to be kidding. 28 years ago the price was the price things are now? You have to be joking. Things all have increased in prices. Not news. Doesn't deserve print.

Why don't they make the poison-packages smaller and still charge the same. We'd use less of that "stuff," that "taste-stuff" as it translates. (MSG, yes?)
