Very interesting development see as Japanese carriers have always been solid Boeing customers. Then again, with fuel costs going through the roof, I suppose things like this are bound to happen.
Can you imagine how long it will take to de-plane from an A380 carrying 800 passengers.
I bet the plan is to reduce daily server to NY/DC and points in Europe to three or four days a week and pack the passengers in like sardines -- that's the way they will make money...
“We have several options including the A380, from which we plan to choose the optimal equipment,” Kon said. The airline is also considering Boeing aircraft such as the 787 and 747, she said.
??? Considering the 787? The decision to buy 787's was made some time ago if memory serves. ANA has been making quite a deal over being the first airline scheduled to actually operate the Dreamliner... ???
Makes it much easier for the airline reps to know who to bribe - happened before with ANA and the 1011 Tristar... and saves them wasting money on non-influential people.
If Boeing hadn't screwed up with delaying the 787 Dreamliner ( it's still just a dream - still hasn't flown yet as far as I know ), ANA wouldn't be considering that A380 monstrosity.

Cut costs and fuel consumption? With prices going through the roof, no one will be able to fly. How will a half-empty 20-billion yen plane cut costs?
