ANA to raise international fuel surcharge from July 1

TOKYO —

ANA on Friday applied to the Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport to raise its fuel surcharge on international flights from July 1, citing the rising cost of jet fuel which is currently trading at more than $150 per barrel.

The fuel surcharge is fixed for a period of three months, after which it is revised on the basis of the average market price for the three months previous to the date of application for revision.  Jet fuel rose to an average of $126.05 per barrel from February to April this year. A spokesman for ANA said it regrets that it must ask its valued customers to once again share the increased cost burden, in spite of ongoing efforts to curb costs and increase revenues.

Enough is enough. I just bought a ticket to Australia. It was advertised in the magazine for 80,000 yen but the final price was 125,000 yen because of the fuel tax.

Travel agents should be required by law to advertise the air fares including fuel tax.

Yeah i agree with that. Whilst it may not stop people from moaning i think it will make more people understand where their money is going when they pay for air travel.

Since when does "share" mean "be shafted with".
