Asahi Kasei to build new pharmaceutical research complex

Asahi Kasei Pharma will be setting up a new research complex in its Pharmaceutical Research Center in Shizuoka to advance research on new drugs. The facility is slated for operation in fiscal 2013.

The research facility construction is under the company's "For Tomorrow 2015" strategic initiative, one of the key objectives of which is the expansion of Asahi Kasei Group's healthcare operations. Asahi Kasei Pharma, whose research activities in the pharmaceutical field focused on successively generating new drugs targeting unmet medical needs, decided to enhance its research infrastructure to enable effective R&D by constructing a new advanced complex.

Apart from its state-of-the-art experimental apparatus and facilities, the complex will provide an environment to facilitate closer collaboration and coordination among researchers.
