conservative investors such as pension funds and insurers have been pouring cash into alternative investments that bring the yield they need, but at significantly higher risk.
ah yes , just the big players lining up the smaller ones through riskiers investments, and when the markets are ready for a picking the markets crash taking most of the small guys with it. like lambs to the slaughter. A few of those lambs that manage to become wolves just prey on the same lambs they once were. My father who became a very successful and wealthy business man through hard work never once invested in stocks, he just didn't believe that wealth could be created with minimal effort, and many of the people that did manage to do this became morally bankrupt in the process. With all the shite thats happened since the US mortgage / GFC im beginning to believe him.

If you're earning yen, accumulate it. We seem to be entering a new uncertainty cycle, and guess what currency rises in value during times of uncertainty? No brokers' and other fees, either.

I disagree, swiss francs are much much safer--i paid for my son's first semester at Kyushu University when the franc rose 30 percent in two days as the EU decided to make the value of the Euro go lower. The franc does not have the problems that Japan has with its shady business practices (you NEVER know how much capital a company really has), or the depopulation issues and the "conservative government that can not and will not EVEr change any of its practices. And it is also regarded as a safe currency as it has LOTS of gold in its banks. The difference is like night and day.
