Miniscual movements have zero effect, we need to see movements larger than what one has in the morning to have any effect.

Agreed--I'd like to see larger weakening of the dollar. 65 yen per dollar sounds good to me.

The Swiss National Bank on Wednesday took markets by surprise when it announced a minimum exchange rate of 1.20 francs per euro and warned it had “the utmost determination and is prepared to buy foreign currency in unlimited quantities.”

Sorry men, but I gave you to a thumbs down.

I think the Yen is way over rated considering the economy here. They have many more problems than America and Swiss, but the numbers are all wrong. The scale is over tipped for sure.

Yen should be about ¥100 to the $1:00 I pay myself in Yen but have a lot of investments in dollars. So I am not being selfish, just pragmatic.

I am sure I will get a ton of thumbs down, but not as many as Stevie gets. :-)

"the yen rose slightly against the dollar"

The yen needs to drop sharply against the dollar.

    77.24 yen to the dollar.

Wow. I used to hang out with old timers who talked fondly about the days when the it was 320 yen to the dollar. Definitely the good 'ol days.

JapanGal, I am definitely with you, especially because I am in the same situation as you are. Lets hope for an equalizer, I am not greedy ;-)

I am all for the yen becoming closer to the value of the dollar, but can it wait a few more weeks till after I transfer some money home? Not trying to be greedy or anything, just don't really make a lot of money as a teacher and every little extra I can send home.
