May be Yongfook can fix this problem like he did with JT's New Design.

It took them more than three years to change the SWIFT address from Sanwa Bank to UFJ from their previous merger!

No demonstrable improvement to any of their services from the latest merger, just slower account management and worse counter staff.

Hahaha... Are contractors testing a bit their systems?

  • SushiSake3 at 03:50 PM JST - 12th May

Sounds like the testers didn't do their jobs.

ATMs are a joke in this country in general. Some can't be used when your bank isn't open, and most after midnight and on some holidays. The 'English' function most ATMs have is the best -- you push it, and on the next screen it says in Japanese, "This function cannot be performed in English." Hahaha.... They are utterly useless, and if you belong to a smaller bank they basically cannot be used at all unless it is at a branch and owned by said bank (even then, only until 7 p.m.).

Even online banking leaves a lot to be desired here.

Its because most people keep their money hidden in grandma`s kimono in Jpn.

what gets me is how ATMs are closed on holidays and after 11pm.. Its a machine!!!!!!!

Sounds like another pants system from Sumitomo again..

    Hughgarse:

Yes, it's a machine but think. Machine contains a certain number of bank notes. Let it open 24h a day and 7 days a week. You'll have to refill it more often. People are paid for this. A machine needs maintenance. Let it work 24h a day and 7 a week then you'll need more maintenance. Those machines use quite a lot of electricity too. All is about costs. There is more combinis with ATMs than banks. What's the deal?

franz: In the U.S., ATMs are on every block, open 24/7 and still I have not had one run out of cash on me. This type of downtime would be unacceptable in most other countries. Besides, Japan has the nice fancy ATMs, why not just put in a bigger cash cassette?
