Some companies are sitting on vast cash reserves. Damn well use those to protect workers. I see a massive wave of riots coming....

My advice to business leaders: Hey geniuses quit firing and laying off people. There would be no need of a safety net then.

My advice to temp workers: Hey geniuses, upgrade your skills to something useful. There would be no need to worry about a safety net then.

My advice to you, shiuu: think before you write. Whatever the absolute level of education, it's always the relatively weakest who will get fired during a downturn. As an individual, you can try not to be among them. For society as a whole, that doesn't change anything - the amount of workers who get fired remains the same.
Regarding the safety net, I just wonder whether Keidanren is willing to support a corporate tax increase in order to finance their proposal...?
