Ha ha! Suck on that, Texas!
Rivalry aside, falling oil prices have slowed growth in states such as Texas and Alaska, bringing California abreast with Maryland as the state with the highest per-capita income in America. Still, great income disparities and high cost of living remain problems. One wonderful thing about California, though, is its insistence on referendums, and the state has voted time and again to prioritize the environment against all else.

I thought California was part of the worlds largest economy?

There are many interesting things about California. Our GDP is larger than Canada's and Australia's, combined. Our GDP is larger than all of the Scandinavian countries, combined. We are a leader in green energy development. About 80% of all geothermal energy in the USA is in California. The largest developed geothermal field in the world, The Geysers, is in CA. We are the leader for solar power in the USA. Some of the largest solar stations in the world are in CA. We were the leader in the USA in developed wind power for many decades, despite the fact that our wind potential is not that great. Today we are third or fourth in the USA in developed wind energy. We had a political gridlock in Sacramento (the capital of CA), because before they decided to shut down the federal government, the GOP were shutting down this state's government. We tackled the problem of political gridlock, and the adverse effect it was having on our economy, by voting the GOP totally out of power. Problem solved.

A feel good article for a time of drought. Pray for rain or you can tell the Fed Gov to stop chemtrailling (geo-engineering) off the coast.

Lived there. Wouldn't again.

California is a wonderful place to visit. Wouldn't want to live there. Half of my extended family lives in California and they have strange priorities and weird ideas compared to all of us who live all over the US and world.
I'm with Homotenashi.

Oil is down. Water is up.

And they have the biggest water problem in the world and want to siphon off more and more water from neighboring states.

Compare California with Kansas. Supermajority states, one democratic and the other republican. One booming and the other falling apart. Kansas is run by the Koch brothers for the Koch brothers, that is why the highways are falling apart.

Statewise, it is the top but the U.S. is powered out of New York City. Don't forget it!

California also has the largest number of Clinton Electoral College votes.
