Canadian airlines gain greater access to Japan

OTTAWA —

Japan has agreed to allow Canadian airlines to land at more Japanese airports as part of a new air services pact, Canadian Trade Minister Stockwell Day said Thursday. “The expanded arrangements will allow Canadian airlines and airports opportunities to offer competitive airline prices to travelers, helping to create jobs and boost our economy,” Day said in a statement.

The pact allows airlines to now offer unlimited flights between Canada and any city in Japan outside of the Tokyo area.

Doesn't help this Canadian - all slots at Narita have long been filled anyway. How about pushing for greater capacity at Japan's main international airport, or Haneda?

JeffLee - greetings fellow Canuck - it's not a Japan issue, it's an AC issue - the cancelled the Tokyo - Toronto direct flight and have pulled back on other routes as well. The T/T flight was supposed to be back up in the Spring but I don't think it is yet.

ultradodgy, double check that mate. I've got a direct flight on AC next week from Tokyo to Toronto. I also took one last July and August.

i was told the direct flight is a seasonal thing and is taken off in the winter, during the slower months...but never trust an airline.
