Any guesses where that money went?

Betting: My guess is that it when to parties, booze, women, gangsters, the LDP. Dissipation is a disease in the Japanese language school industry.

Declare them person-non-grata and kick these freeloaders out. I don't see why our Canadian friends should have to fork out money for these people. Do you think that something similar would happen if foreign students were stranded in Japan? I don't think so, the SS from immigration would be knocking down doors left, right and center, just like the "night of the long knives" all over again.

    What an imagination you have.

    Oh Canada!

These Canadian schools took it upon themselves to help out some people who were left in a difficult position not of their own making. It's an honorable act in a world where stories like this are becoming quite rare.

jeancolmar may be right about the "dissipation" of the money, and all the blame clearly lies with Gateway21. Timorborder's rather virulent reaction makes no sense - he's just using an unrelated story to segue to a rant about his own issues with Japan immigration.

Cheers to the Canadian schools who did right by these students.

A very nice gesture, great for them.

A very warm gesture in light of these students having been victimized. I hope all schools in all counties which accepted students through this company consider extending such assistance. Without doubt companies that "broker" foreign studies should have to face stringent examination and received authorization from the ministry of education in order conduct his kind of business.

I guess there wasn't any fine print on these contracts! Warm gestures are for the working poor!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These companies should have secured the funds before the student arrived at the school. While the Canadian schools are "kind" they are just setting themselves up for furture abuse and losses. The Japanese government should cover their losses, not small Canadian schools.

Thanks for the good laugh, fatloser.

Half a million? Surprised they were able to get away with charging so much!

Are the Japanese really this ignorant and useless? What on earth would anybody need a broker for (to go to a foreign college)?
