The Americans really blew this one. The Chinese can act magnanimously and open-heartedly while the Americans can only grumble in the dark with their friends in Tokyo.

Saw a documentary about the World Bank and IMF today. After watching it, I'm all for competition. Who knows, maybe a strong Chinese bank will be a good thing. The World Bank and the IMF certainly don't have our interests at heart. I'm sure the Chinese one wouldn't. But maybe they can at least keep each other in check. Wishful thinking perhaps.

There's not even a bank yet. Let's not put the cart before the horse. Especially since big international projects like this tend to be undone by internal politics.
