Wow, do the math. Qualcom was only willing to put in about 15% of what Hon Hai had originally planned. Sharp must be in real bad shape.

Yes, it's not very much. Sounds like Qualcomm is only committing money for a specific technology. If this continues, Sharp will have many, many companies that own it's stock.

$121 million? I bet Qualcomm drops more than that on their annual Christmas party. CEO Paul Jacobs pulled in a cool $31 million in compensation last year alone... Go Chargers!

Not 15%, 25%, so it seems you haven't done the math (22 million per 1% opposed to 80 million per 1%). Considering the stock price at the time the "800million" deal was struck was over four times higher, Qualcomm is offering the better relative value. In fact, the delays on Hon Hai's part are partially to blame for the stock collapse.
The new cash injection isn't all that will happen in this deal, Qualcomm will be helping Sharp make the chips needed to control the displays using the new IGZO methods.

Basroil -- and exactly what school did you graduate from? $121 million is EXACTLY 15.12% of $800 million. And, since they got the same 1% of stock for that money that Hon Hai would have gotten just reaffirms my point, that Sharp's problems are much worse than thought even 90 days ago. Qualcom is GETTING a better value, not offering one. Please stick to subjects you may be somewhat conversant in. I've got an MBA with a minor in finance from one of those fancy Ivy League schools, and can tell you business/economics is NOT one of them.

Like I said before on JT, I am not so optimistic about Sharp.

That's simple math. You need to figure out the ratio of Qualcomm's injection to attain that 2.64% share versus the share % that Hon Hai and Sharp originally agreed to with the $800 million capital injection package.
I have no idea what this sentence means but it's comforting to know Ivy League schools are doing such masterful job creating bright minds.
