I've had Indian dudes serve me at the konbini before, and most izakaya waiters seem to be Chinese/Korean students these days...

Crap. Brutal service from the foreign workers in the stores. Total crap.

I have always seen more foreign employees at AM/PM than Lawson's. I think that it is good to have foreign staff working across all business sectors.

I don't mean to be prejudice. But I have to deal with the Chinese cashiers at AM/PM near my office every other day. They are so rude and hostile. No customer service manners whatsoever...Their Japanese is also not good and not clearly spoken. Being a gaijin myself I couldn't understand what they are saying and have to often ask them to repeat which is not pleasant when I'm in a hurry...

I hope Lawson takes this sort of problem seriously and would ensure the cultural/language part of those foreign workers are taken care of.

Only in Japan would hiring 39 foreigners be considered news.

  • Yasashihito at 10:20 AM JST - 27th March

Seesaw, their not going to do anything unless people like you speak up. Make a phone call, write a letter, or in the least speak with their manager.

when is this country going to join the 21st century and realize that everything involving "foreigners" isn't news? i mean, seriously, they hired some foreign workers. big stinkin deal. grow up already. it doesn't make me angry or anything, it's just a bit ridiculous is all.
