Predictable trend. The age of the department store as we used to know it is coming gradually to a close.

true, so now they should start reporting about sales of 100 Yen shops, and discount stores, they are making good profits.

When 100 Yen shops are booming, and they are closing both gas stations and convenience stores (as I saw in the midlands (Shizuoka/Aichi) on a recent business trip) you KNOW you have a problem.

you KNOW you have a problem

I know, you know, we know, but the problem is govt does not know, no govt will never admit evenif it is 100% true.

There are other factors but the one which I do not like and always ask WHY? if I want to buy some thing and need explanation or details believe me it is hard to find staff to talk with, what will I do? simply leave.

One big factor is shortage of staff and in-experience staff. Why will I buy if I am not satisfied? Once customer satisfaction was priority. Once Custoer was treated like a God in Japan but now a days you know what I mean.

Sales drop 4.7 percent only, still 95.3 percent selling.

Sales will get more better when confidence returns back in japan/global systems with time.

4.7% drop is not that bad. There is more competition for the overpriced department stores.
