A sad day for the dollar, and the yen.

This is getting very silly, isn't it.

The $$ may continue declining. The Japan Inc needs to change old business models accordingly.

Do i keep buying dollars in small amounts? (100-200k yen every month?)
TheRock
no you keep buying small amounts of Au and Ag..currency wars are going on and each currency is being printed into oblivion.
ironchef
i'm going to be changing my yen into more US dollars for sure.

If you live in Tokyo, this might be a good time to change large amount of yen to a dollar and sit on it for about 6-12 months. Most likely, it will be in low to mid 80's yen range per dollar in that short time. You can always change it back to yen and make 5-10 percent or more in profit from the currency flucuation.

My response may surprise you. Keep your nose clean and pay off ALL debts first before doing anything else.
Payoff your mortgage, car loan, student loan, credit cards and pending bills. Save up at least 6 months salaries just in case of a job loss. Keep polishing your job skills to keep up with damands to be an asset to your business organization. There will be a tough time ahead of us. That's all I can tell you, pal.

Christina O'Neill
Investors drop shares and go for gold, result more people out of work, currency speculatoers try to control the money markets putting countries in financial jeapordy, polititions try to amend the situation and the banks screw us all. Thats capitalism
TumbleDry
Christina O'Neill: No, it isn't capitalism. This kind of speculators are vultures on the capitalism carcass.

@Christina O'Neilland
It is nothing to do with capitalism.
The market wide swings today (volatility) never existed before until these global speculators (day tradders) were given powerful tools. They are a Laptop computer and a Smartphone. The speculators can go and trade anytime and anything from all over the world. They are careless about you and their own countries. They are a very selfish people. They only care about money and profit.
