Obama's recovery is in full swing. The USA grows while the world slows.

Grow up. There has to be a demand for American oil and natural gas for America to be growing. My money is still on Asia long-term.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

I want it higher and to stay that way.

At least America has natural resources to power its economy. The EU doesn't have much of anything.

Jeff - right. Asia is full of fossil fuels as well as the culture to unleash the creativity of its people.

American "creativity"? lol You mean the 150 million people on welfare? America is old news.

@Jeff

American "creativity"? lol You mean the 150 million people on welfare? America is old news.

What does "welfare" have to do with America's growth and supposedly lack of creativity. Sounds like you deflecting instead responding to the statement that not much creativity is coming out of Asia. I do see potential coming out Asia, but we have to wait to see if it comes to fruition. Potential is not reality.

If the U.S. is still leading in different areas then I would say the U.S. Is far from old news.

"You mean the 150 million people on welfare?"

Half the population on welfare, and GDP per capita of 53,000 dollars a year, among the world's highest. America' s economic performance is stunning indeed.

Japan: 38,000 dollars, and full employment in a nation of workaholics. Someone sure ain't doing things right. LOL.

@JL, of course YOU are right, right across the board, the actuality of reality being all 'wrong', so please, keep betting on Asia, notably Japan. Get right on in there, invest to the hilt. I'll be staying with Franklin and the boys in 2015.

"Full employment"??! Yeah, right. Absolutely. If you define full employment as low paid temporary jobs with no security which 40% of the workforce are living with.

Grow up. There has to be a demand for American oil and natural gas for America to be growing. My money is still on Asia long-term.

There must not be a demand because the oil and gas industries are just letting it all leak away. There was an article in the Washington Post this week about the great methane cloud in the sky over New Mexico that's detectable by EarthSAT. The methane didn't get there just from cows (though manure and bovine belches do contribute). The major source of the methane cloud over New Mexico was from oil and natural gas refinery leaks.

Besides, America's GDP is not tied solely to Oil and Gas sales. Saying something like America's economy can't grow unless American Oil and Gas sales grow ignores all the other industries America is invested in.

But natural resources are truly all America has left. After decades of stagnation my state is finally turning around. Shopping plazas, multiple expansions to the local hospital, and apartment complexes galore are springing up everywhere.

I'm just wondering what's driving all this growth. Is it based on solid supply and demand principles, or is this housing collapse the sequel. Everyone I talk to credits the Marcellus Shale for West Virginia's growth.

Amazing how the 90 million Americans who actually work are expanding the US economy despite and inspite of Obama and the Democrats total incompetence. Obama and his sychophants dug a massive hole and tossed the US into the great recession But luckily their control only lasted 2 years, which allowed the US to start climbing out of the hole. Now we have at least 2 years of Democrats out of power and Obama rendered irrelevant so that is 2 years of government gridlock, which means those incompetent politicians cant Do any more damage.

Imagine how strong the US economy would be if the 150 million freeloaders and the 35 million government employee parasites were actually contributing to the economy instead of living off the backs of the 90 million people who actually work.

Speaking on behalf of Team Democrat, allow me simply to say:

You are welcome.

It's great America is doing well. But after eight nightmare years of Bush I'm cautious about promises politicians make. Remember when the housing boom was supposed to last forever? If this boost in growth is solid, then great. I voted for Obama both times. Dubya should have retired to a mental institution.

FYI, that's the reality, and it's the result of "reforms," which everyone seems to believe will be Japan's salvation. LOL.

My Japanese colleagues and friends regularly pull 10-12 hour work days 5 or 6 days a week. I'd call that "fully employed," wouldn't you? And still, the economy can't generate the earnings that America's can, with 150 million Americans sitting around their trailer parks living off social assistance. Now isn't that weird?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

JeffLee, Japan has to be under-reporting their stats, IMHO. You said yourself that three hospitals have been built in your town. Why wouldn't that create economic growth?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

"Japan has to be under-reporting their stats,"

Of course it is. If the events in the real world contradict your ideology or worldview, then the numbers must be wrong, not you.

Remember, never let the facts get in the way of your opinions.

The dollar continues to be the currency to hold since 2012. The yen is the currency to ditch as soon as you earn it.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

"The yen is the currency to ditch as soon as you earn it."

No problem there, after I pay the rent and the utilities and buy food and necessary items, the yen I earn has been ditched, lol.
