I suspect that GM is going to flop big time on this one. Of course they'll use every marketing trick in the book, probably call them "Made in Asia" rather than "China" but they are underestimating the average American's discomfort with higher level China produced products. The Sinophobes will be making it vocally clear that this car is made in China. Those who remember history may even see a parallel with Ford supporting Nazi Germany in the 1930s, as China is a country whose navy worked up a firing plan on the USS Ronald Reagan.

I think Americans will be wary at first. But if the quality is up to the (marginal) quality standards of American-made vehicles, eventually people will snap them up just like the Chinese goods at Wal-Mart.
