The latest recall of nearly 1.8 million vehicles linked to three new problems comes as a result of an internal probe into why it took the largest US automaker so long to acknowledge a deadly ignition defect.

Simple answer: they were just happily bashing Toyota, so it would have been a bad time to come out with own issues...

With this, we see how GM dont care for people, and US government saved them , today GM could have been in foreign hands, and this faults would be exposed much earlier. But I also wonder, how US goverment didnt discovered this earlier? Or they did know for this, but didnt wanted to ruin reconstruction of GM.

What this article failed to mention was that the 31 accidents and 12 deaths in its 2005-7 Chevrolet Cobalt and 2003-7 Saturn Ion models could have been prevented with a $1.00 part.

On the lighter side

I'd like to see a panorama video of that picture above, the Renaissance Center hotel and GM's HQ, located in the heart of downtown Detroit. We'd probably see a carjacking, a drug deal, a gang shooting, and a mugging all in one rotation.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

ignition key peolems had been investigafed for quite a while. Then airbag test failure. Some people think Japanese brands are targetted more, No, because Japanese brand cars are made in USA and they recall before the whole salers can make a dime, Japanese car makers in USA do not get accused like GM. BTW, Detroit is under bankruptcy protection. Have you traveled to Michigan? It is a ghost town in Detroit. Criminals gave up there and moved to Windy City, NY etc. Maybe because too cold? Mugging? Nobody walks outside there. Muggers must be froxne by snow turned ice there.

“GM is facing multiple investigations by U.S. authorities over its slowness to react to evidence linking a defective ignition switch to 31 accidents and 12 deaths in its 2005-7 Chevrolet Cobalt and 2003-7 Saturn Ion models”.

I want to wait and see how US authority will handle latest GM scandal. The GM failed to fix problem in its cars that was detected at the pre-production stage as early as 2001 is committing horrible crime by GM. It worst than Toyota. The problem with Toyota was mishandling by stupid Toyota's North America officials. There's no evidence of fault in ECU as NASA scientists' test result. I didn’t hear Toyota has replaced old ECU with new ECU but also I didn’t hear any more complaint about unintentional speeding problem with car.

GM has knowing fault in car and sold to public without fixing problem. It's really outraged. Same as Volkswagen, Volkswagen didn't recall faulty transmission in their car models for a few years.

All modern cars are not faultless because they have too much rely on electronic, software and computing system in car. However, it's depending on how quickly the company recalls and fixes faulty parts in car.

I do not concern for numerous times recalling various models from Toyota Company because now Toyota has quickly acting on its problem cars through out the world and not just in US.

I don't think recalling cars for faulty parts will damage its brand. I believe customers are trusting in Toyota brand more than before because they do not need to worry about faulty parts in their car and Toyota will fix and replace with new one without costs.
