Japan Airlines (JAL) has requested approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) to revise down the fuel surcharges applied on all international passenger tickets issued on/after Feb 1, 2015.
JAL sets fuel surcharge levels bimonthly based on the 2-month average price of Singapore kerosene-type jet fuel.
The price of Singapore kerosene-type jet fuel during the two month period of October and November 2014 averaged $99.07 per barrel.
From February to March 2015, the fuel surcharge will range from 1,000 yen on a Japan - Korea ticket to 14,000 yen on a Japan - USA ticket per person per sector flown, on tickets purchased in Japan.
This updated level of fuel surcharge will be applied to all international passenger tickets issued between Feb 1 and March 31 2015.

I imagine ticket prices will rise without passengers truly knowing to offset any kind of loss either by the airline or the travel company selling the ticket.

cracaphat, if you're going to call JAL, "crooks", you have to call all other airlines by the same term, since they all do that.
