eh "jal need a guy that the one turn round BA?" aren't they also reporting 2yrs on the trot of mega loses ( its the climate). loosing customers left right and centre from poor service, repeated strikes, mis manangement/poor and over confident planning of new facilities, annoying customers with extra charges, lost luggage on mass scale; rude staff, etc. yeah the last thing jal need to do is go down that kind of cost cutting mentality without any focus on service, function, etc.
Sarge: too big to fail
Remember PanAm?
Remember JNR - Japanese National Railways?
Too corrupt to fail? 250 billion yen! What's my portion of that? And I don't even use them, ever. Why do I have to contribute to something I don't use?
Why doesn't everybody support the other Japanese carrier, ANA? Why isn't ANA up in arms about this anti-competitive support? Cabal? Collusion?
Why does JAL need 3 years to pull out of loss-making routes? What on earth is going on in Japanese skies?

An appallingly badly managed company. More than the President should be given the boot.

That is good enough for Day 1. It is the next 5 years of corporate rehabilitation that worries me.

Anyone in any of JAL's 200-plus subsidiaries who was a civil servant at to the time of his retirement should be summarily put out in the pasture.

Time for a foreign boss? What about the guy who turned around British Airways, Cathay and Air New Zealand? What is his name? Rod Eddington?
