Have they paid back all the breaks they received from the public while under bankruptcy protection? Or is this another case of socializing debt and privatizing profits?

So, are they now going to stop demanding handouts from the government, pay back previous handouts, and stop price gouging the public? Methinks the answer is, no! Ticket costs are nearly double for trips this winter than they were last time I checked, and the ridiculous fuel surcharge, which never used to exist (but had to be brought into being because of increased fuel costs!) has only dropped some 4000 yen or so max on a 300,000 yen ticket.

“Oil prices, which greatly affect our fuel purchasing costs, have been low compared to the year before,” it added.

Have they lowered the "fuel surcharge" accordingly? My guess is "No".

It's amazing how quick they respond when the price of oil goes up.

You guessed wrong. A flight from Japan to the US came with a 23,000 yen oil surcharge last year. Now it's 10,000. Considering the weak yen, that's a considerable drop.
