Japan Energy to review gas prices every week

TOKYO —

Japan Energy Corp will review its wholesale gasoline prices every week, starting Nov 1, company officials said Tuesday.

The unit of Nippon Mining Holdings Inc will base its wholesale prices on weekly market moves instead of the current practice of setting its prices every month on the basis of oil procurement costs. Nippon Oil Corp and Idemitsu Kosan Co adopted similar pricing systems this month.

In other words, let's keep the consumer uninformed until they get their bill!

    whynothow

In other words....when crude prices are nearly half what they were in July, we shouldnt have to wait a month or three for cheaper gas.... and we are not talking about a few yens here....July147$/a barrel---October 90$ more or less. Have these people ever heard of insurrection???? Gas at the pump should be around 120yen/litre.... I know ,i know....."shoganai ne" rules.... This weekly adjustment may very well lead to a competitive free-market, adjusted to demand/offer and not some cartel fixing up prices....
