The photos are all of the part of the business that is not being listed, the postal services part. It is the bank and the insurance company, and part of the holding company whose main assets are the bank and the insurance company, which will be gradually sold from here.

Having lived in the countryside, the post office is a pillar of 50% of Japanese society. Mostly old people, many with dementia, take the 50 minute hike to get cash(they don't understand internet, ATM) and meet other local people for a bit of a chat, and exchange fruit, veggies etc. This will destroy the very essence of Japanese society.

There is a real public service element to the post office which I hope is not lost. That said it will be interesting to see if it shows up in the Japan ETF I have as part of my investment portfolio.

What happens when the stock goes down, say by half? Entrusting savings and pensions to the whims of a stock market that yo yos is not very safe.
