Wow !! . . .I wonder if it will improve actual flight services,such as more DIRECT Intern't flights from Kansai . . . .And, I wonder how it will impact the costs to the consumer. . .

semperfi: Kansai has always been a joke. While more convenient to people in the area, obviously, they have flaunted all international sentiment when it came to building the thing in the first place, then the more recent second runway. Everyone was against the latter in particular (according to the survery Kansai sent out expecting positive feedback), so KIX execs got all offended and said they would do it anyway. Landing costs boomed to that of near Narita -- the most expensive in the world -- and so when Chuo was built many airliners went for the MUCH cheaper landing costs there and Kansai lost a lot of direct flights. It's not any wonder the place continues to be mired in debt.

I too wonder how this could benefit consumers, but my guess is it will just jack up already jacked up costs.
