As a British Columbia ex-politico who is all too familiar with the arguments pro and con, I can say only one thing about this issue - it will drastically lower the cost of LNG for Japan - my second country - where it seems most people want to see a reduction of nuclear-generated electricity. That is good, very good, and it's nice to see a Japanese company can partner with another world leader in engineering and construction to make it happen.

It think it would nice for British Columbians if the engineering and construction were done by local companies. Canada has long been a leader in resources-related engineering. And BC used to have a lot more real industry...and well-paid jobs...like shipbuilding before it turned to tourism, movie-making and selling Canadian passports to ultra-wealthy foreigners as its primary economic policies.
Narcotics is BC's biggest industry now, isn't it?

Japan's energetic dependency is a real issue...Let's hope that with the lifting of sanctions on Iran, they'll be able to diversify their supplies!
