It was in the news here today that ten manufacturers have banded together to conduct their own independent examination of the defective bags because they have lost faith in Takata. Cue the "Fat Lady" -- she needs to start singing because Takata is its own worst enemy.

It never bodes well for a company when they force their customers to bear the cost of doing the right thing. When the next models are designed, all these manufacturers are going to remember what Takata made them do, and they will outsource their airbags from another supplier. I suspect Takata will be filing for bankruptcy shortly after their existing contracts end.
