I'm surprised they'd recognize the probable danger their product poses, and not bother to recall. Doesn't that send a message that they're not especially concerned about your health?

They are going to "limit the sale of the product" and are willing to accept returns from concerned customers.

Call their customer hotline at 0120-501-243 if you want to discuss things.

A bit ironic that the Econa product line has been given the special Health Ministry seal of approval for being "good" for you.

Article doesn't say but these chemicals were just recently declared cancerigens. Therefore I think nobody knew there are bad. It is a very good move from the maker.

This is the problem when governments give official seals of approval for products. People are given a false sense of security, and then when a problem is found, the government can also be held liable. There are no FDA seals of approval of products in America. There are a lot of products that promote that they have one, but the fact of the matter is that there isn't one. They may have FDA approval to sell their product, but they don't have an actual seal of approval from the FDA that says it is a good product. Japan's Health Ministry made a big mistake when they made that seal.

The risk is probably so low as to be minimal so a recall isn't necessary. But they would take back any bottles that you want to return. Seems reasonable.

This is really scary isnt it? This is one of the most popular cooking oils in Japan, branded by Health symbol. Many of my friends have been using for many years.
