More join teamwork for survival of motor tech of Proton and Mitsubishi.

They also do not want be like GM/chrysler and Ford.

Motor industry has too many companies globally, they must consolidate business or take govt loans to keep improving to sell.

News? Proton's are essentially MITSUBISHI cars! This, well at least everybody in Malaysia knows this as common knowledge. Proton's are good for Malay pride! Viva the Proton (designed by Mitsubishi) and I hope they don'T catch on fire like all of the cop cars here in Japan do (made by??? Mitsubishi!!)

Proton cars are being used in Malaysia, they do not catch fire. If they did no one will buy them.

Malaysians are sensitive to the cars they use, probably Mitsubishi cars do not sell well in japan as compared to Toyota because mitsubishi police cars caught fire.

Proton motor pride, proton cars are there if anyone wants to buy them. Proton cars nowadays all use Malaysian engines unlike before when they used mitsubishi engines. Some say proton and mitsubishi split because of row over technology secrets.

Daikin has bought malaysian air con maker who sold them majority shares. So this company is now strong. Proton wants to get stronger via more ties via Mitsubishi. Proton also is tied with Lotus cars in UK,where they had help in making new malaysian engine.

Malaysia just does not to be cheap food exporter, the proton cars is our escape into more tech exports.

Probably in future we do not need to export food anymore as we can make more money via tech, and buy cheap foods from many agro products export nations, which are growing in numbers and need revenues.

Having industry outside agriculture is a good thing, but unless things change drastically, this company isnt going to help much. Im sure Proton satisfy local demand however as the government control the company, little real progress has been made since its inception in the eighties. The industry was set up more for national pride and to create jobs rather than to compete globally.

Dontpanic- Malaysia proton cars not facing problems of bail out by government, may be USA car markers should follow malaysia's proton way to create jobs. We are not selling much overseas,japan/korean cars very much better.

Malaysian will not get much from agriculture,as competition in agriculture also now big. We were largest producer of palm oil in world, but now indonesia is largest producer in world. Malaysian need to make some tech products to make jobs.

Proton is a begining to other tech products. South korea is now biggest ship maker replacing japan,so they made good progress in hitting big in technology.

Malaysia need to do more than agriculture to make jobs ,we also need some niche tech/car market jobs. Our biggest export income these days are from tech electronic/electrical products.

I think Proton can help to bring more basic tech know how for motor industry in Egypt,Iran,IOC nations and help IOC nations improve economy via malaysian companies joint venture jobs.

May be also we can help develop motor industries in Iraq/Afghanistan to boost their economy/jobs once there is more better conditions.
