McDonald's earnings drop as customer traffic falls

McDonald’s reported lower quarterly earnings Thursday behind a drop in comparable sales and declining traffic in all major segments.

Became too big and added too many items for their own good. As Ted Levitt, the famous HBS marketing guru said (I believe) -- "If you try to be everything to everyone, you won't be anything to anyone" -- really applies here. Hell, it takes a solid five minutes just to figure out their menu -- part McDonald's, part Chick Fil A, part Starbucks, part Dairy Queen. Too much.

Jerseyboy, I agree. Mcdonald's needs to cut to streamline its menu. Otherwise, It would be sad to see such an iconic American company disappear.

I sometimes buy one ¥100 burger, take it home, put on a slice of cheese and toaster oven it.

In this day and age, why would anyone go to McDonalds? Better to eat real food!
