I stopped going because it is unhealthy.

If I want junk food, I'll make it myself. Then I know what's in it.

Hate to disagree, on a public forum, especially JT, appearing to defend McD, but...

Recently they do a range really quite acceptablle avocado baps. Last night I tried the avocado and shrimp and it was good! Light and crunchy. The vegetable juice was good too.

I took a shot of the meal and sent it to my daughter, slightly fearing her wrath, but her only comment was "why spoil it with the chips"?

Have junk food customers, having caught a glimpse of the ugly truth of industrial food behind happy face marketing, turned to healthier alternatives such as home cooking, or simply moved on to a chain that does a better job of deception?

They also re-jigged their system of sets. It's confusing to order.

Anyone know if they follow the same business model as in the US, w/ only 5% or so of outlets run by the corporation, and the rest by franchisees? With sales figs like these, unless the stores are owned and operated by the (deep pockets) parent corp, one would think some franchisees will soon have to close their shops.

Best news of the month! I hope they completely go bankrupt!

I so miss Japan McDonald's....

Japanese know absolutely nothing about great tasting burgers. Sad that there is a McD's located near every major JR East stations, where people think americans eat this kind of garbage on a daily basis.

Wc. nonsense. there are plenty of good burger joints (at least in Tokyo). sure they are not everywhere like McD's or some others, but if you want a good burger you kind find it. anyway, many Japanese I know don't necessarily think of McD's as being American, but think it is just as Japanese.

From JT's sister site How Maccy D's could improve its numbers....... http://en.rocketnews24.com/2015/08/13/netizens-are-head-over-heels-for-the-cutest-mcdonalds-goddess-in-taiwan-%E3%80%90photos%E3%80%91/

First-half revenue skidded 30% from the same period a year ago, the company said. For January-March, revenue fell 34%, it reported earlier this year.

Those are very scary numbers. Means they would have to increase sales by about 50% just to get back to where they were -- and we all know that is not going to happen. Good luck Ms. Casanova.

Baker Bounce. . .WP Gold Burgers . . . there might be a couple here, there. Still doesn't change the fact that japanese supermarkets don't sell hamburger buns, pickles, mustard and Mc Cormick's grill seasonings in order to create ur own tasty hamburgers. Sadly, everyone's image of hamburger here is something one would find @McD's or MOS burger. Hilarious.

American's do eat this kind of garbage daily, or why else would there be so many fast-food chains there and such obesity?

McDonald's in Japan isn't the same as it was 20 years ago. The string of foreign presidents with no Japan experience has taken a toll. The workers aren't as motivated. The managers are lethargic. The sneaky reduction in size of bun diameters that they think the (stupid) customers will never notice...

Remember the nonsense katakana speaking gaijin geek from a few years ago? How stupid was that.

Japan is still miles above the disgustingly filthy US stores, staffed by slack-jawed, tattooed yahoos who greet customers with a polite, "Yo man, watcha want?"

They just don't know. Mc Donald's is a place you go when everything else is closed or you are just stuck with no other options. There are so many other places that make better burgers. I go there for their fries. But the Japanese MC Donald's is the worst, better service than the US, but the food quality, NOPE!

You're generalizing. Not all Americans eat Miki D's. Just because there are a lot doesn't mean that everyone goes, convenient is the word. Also, the main reason why Americans started becoming obese is because of the Quantity. When I was a kid, most people weren't fat, not even close to what today is an epidemic.

If you eat JUNK FAST FOOD you can't really expect too much in terms of safety,it will kill you one way or the other! Might as well buy local or farm fresh and cook your own food, maybe it will be more time consuming, but in the long run better for your health, that is of course if you give a crap about your health I will never set foot in McDonalds or any other artery clogging cheaply made flavor and texture induced scientifically engineered foods!

A GBK would be a massive welcome in Japan.

I stopped going to McDees fast food restaurants when I realized they don't sell food.

If I had said "everyone goes", as you seem to interpret, I would have been generalizing. Please read carefully before commenting. As you can see above, I said "Americans" eat this kind of garbage and they do. Even you say that "there are a lot".

As for the cause of obesity, I wouldn't want to say what the "main reason" is as there are a number of factors, including convenience, quantity, marketing, sedentary lifestyle, etc. But if you have some data to back your claim, please convince me of the main reason.

Hopefully, people are starting to realise this stuff is not actually food. It's just chemical ladened stomach putty!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Been there less and less these times. Main reason is their pricing system, without coupon, paying the full price, I felt cheated and their special burgers... for a tiny bit more of "stuff", you pay double the price than for a cheese-burger?! Their fries taste good, yes, but they "are" not good. Read an article about how they "produce" their potatoes, regardless of surroundings etc. Plus, there is a lot more in there than just potato, oil, and salt...

Maybe they should start offering foods and redecorate the toilet like interior.

Funny how everyone says that. Yet, every Olympic games wheather it be summer/winter . . . the USA racks up all "those" medals. Heh-heh . . . You are what you eat? Ever seen americans kick sum as* in the UFC?

Everyone is afraid to go there-

No one wants such godawful junk food -- especially tainted junk food.

So there is a chance that this chain leaves Japan? That would be good news. A countre free of Mac-D, yeah! I hope they they Starbucks and the other gimmicky chains with them.

You're much more likely to get food poisoning at a sushiya or izakaya.

You know what, there's a lot worse places than Mc. in Japan. I've gotten sick from a few of them but never Mc''s. I think they have also improved on making some healthier meals. Also they employ a lot of friendly nice people all you jerks here want to see people loss their job just becacuse you are food nazi's liberals who think you know it all and want to push your self rightous standards on everyone else. I for one hope the recover and employ more people.

I paid over the odds for some plasticized waste at the McDs in Ashiya and was told that I couldn't have the set price as lunchtime was over.....maybe they think it's 'that kind' of restaurant?
