McDonald's Japan to sell premium burgers for first time

How come they squeezed in McDs and premium in the same sentence??

Mac's had to be spending a lot of cash on this ad campaign, even NHK had a section on their news last night about this "new" menu and campaign.

And yet the people who work at Mac's don't make enough money to afford buying one.

As much as I hate supporting fast food sometimes I get that craving for some preservative packed burger!

I will be going for the spicy sauce one!

Sure, these new burgers are over 500 yen, but they're also bigger. I'm guessing they will be successful.

It's about time Mc Donald's put tomatoe into their burgers. I just hope the bun size will match.

There are so many other better burger alternatives than Mc Chucks. Kua’aina, Awaji Burger, Freshness - they’re worthwhile visiting.

Tomatoes on all burgers are a great idea as well as some 'healthy salads. Some different types of 100% juices as alternatives to the soft drinks would be great too. Also, they really need to come up with some nice grilled chicken.

The headlines the best"McDonald's Japan to sell premium burgers for first time" So are they admitting that the burgers they sell are substandard. All this time,and all the advertising over the years to promote their standards and now to find out that the burgers are not of a premium quality. ??? So how are they going to describe the rest of the menu, when seemingly only these two particular burgers are premium burgers.??

Premium? I was expecting to see the words "Angus beef" in that story. IMO, Hard Rock Cafe has the best burger in Japan.

Agree, not Hard Rock. plenty of better in the 1 square mile of Roppongi alone, let alone elsewhere in Tokyo.

So, their idea of a 'premium burger' is to put more of that so-called 'meat' in a burger? How about doing away with that rubbish altogether and producing a nice fresh salad. I won't be lining up for one of these. I remember a few months ago a friend of mine brought macdolands over for dinner. He bought me a double quarter pounder. One bite was enough for me. When you talk about macdonalds and fast food together you need to include another noun, fast death food!

I bet it can't hold a candle to Burger King's Whopper.

The Habanero tomato sounds pretty incredible actually, will definitely try it out.

Japanese food is incredible, however every now and then I just crave a grease sandwich with absurd amounts of calories, so this should serve well.

The skool kids shouldn't be in the smoking area/room.

Onions do not belong inside the meat, unless it's a hamburger steak. A slice of fresh onion or sauteed, on TOP of the burger only. This is my only gripe about Japanese burgers. Never been to Tokyo, so I don't know. OH! god, now the thumbs down is really going to start.

Micky Dees hamburgers are substandard no mater where you go. I think they are just trying to lure customers in with theses sudo-burgers. In the states I would not want to be seen in one. I don't allow my kids to eat there much, there toys are like crack for kids. Get these spoiled brats hooked and they cry till mommy brings them back. Doesn't work for my kids... I let my son watch Super Size Me. That cured him of Micky Dees. Real hamburger shops put lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions on your burger, and it looks and tastes GREAT and at least it is not as unhealthy as Micky Dees. Honestly, I would like to try that spicy burger though.

Any article about McDonald's anywhere always generates all kinds of criticism of McDonald's and derogatory comments about their food, Take it with a grain of salt, it is just from the usual crowd who hates nothing more than they hate success, probably because they never had any and spend their lives blaming somebody else for their failures.. There is a reason McDonald's is the most successful fast-food franchise ever; it is because they have good products at a reasonable price, and people like it. If you don't like it nobody forces you to eat there; but why spend your time trashing something just because you personally don't like it?

According to a rumor I heard, the sauce on the Quarter Pounder Habanero is 20 times spicier than Tabasco!

I rarely like the specialty burgers at McDonald's here because they always put some weird sauce that kills the whole flavor. Now the Quarter Pounder with Cheese has been my favorite at Mickey D's since I was a kid. I will try the BLT version and hopefully I don't get traumatized.

Anybody remember the McDLT from back in the days?
