Mitsubishi Electric Corp says it has manufactured the world's fastest elevator. The company said the new high-speed elevator will be installed in the 632-meter, 128-story Shanghai Tower in China, in July, Sankei Shimbun reported.
Mitsubishi Electric said the new elevator can move at a top speed of 1,230 meters per minute, making the ascent from B2 to the 119th floor in 53 seconds. The Shanghai Tower will feature three ultra-high-speed elevators. The other two elevators will operate at a speed of 1,080 meters per minute.
Other new features will include improvements to the control panels to maximize motor efficiency, brakes and safety devices.
With manufacturing companies waging competition among each other in the development of the world’s fastest elevator, Hitachi has also developed its own ultra-high-speed elevator that operates at a speed of 1,200 meters per minute. Hitachi’s elevators are scheduled to be installed in the 530-meter-tall Guangzhou CTF Finance Center Guangzhou, China.

I wonder what the impact of such a speed will have on your ears. Not sure if it will be pleasant.

After a quick search the one at the Shard is made by Kone from Finland, which travels 6m per second for what its worth.
