A recall of a possible 11 year old car? First case in 2004? We can expect the same old excuses; we were investigating the matter, we were discussing the action we should take, we didn't think it was serious.

Corporate Japan in action, or maybe that should be Corporate Japan Inaction?

As far as I can understand, it seems that the recall would check whether or not you have an oil leak. If you do, Mitsubishi would change the oil seal and add a retaining plate so the seal won't move. And if you don't have a leak, the oil seal would remain, and the retaining plate would be added.

What nonsense! Try to get someone who knows what they are talking about to write the articles or at least check them before publication. Wosrt case scenario is loss of all the oil, loss of oil pressure leading to (usually) a big-end failure and possible broken conrod and a hole in the block - noisy ,messy and expensive.

@Elvensilvan.... individually .. the kanji means burn.... together....焼付き,, means seizure... which is of course .. engine seizure which will happen if the engine runs out of oil while driving

Thank you for your explanations. This does not excuse the translators for not interpreting the kanji properly nor JT for not checking that the words they used actually made sense.

Actually, Mitsubishi's recall page states:

エンジン内部部品が焼付き

And 焼付き would literally mean burn.
