Ouch. Unemployment going up and up everywhere.

Does the article say 'layoffs and unemployment'? No it doesn't. Read properly and don't just jump to what is the wrong conclusion.
Japanese do not NEED to buy a new car, however due to the "shaken" (warrant of fitness) laws in Japan, the consumer is left with the little choice but to buy a new car every 3 years, or else find their current vehicle has depreciated to next to nothing on resale as a 2nd-hand car.

Mitsubishi Motors suck! These guys are making the worst cars around. They had many problems with their engines cathing on fire. They even had these kinds of incidents with their PATROL CARS! If you look carefully at Japanese patrol cars, you will probably not find one that is a Mitsubishi!

How come their cars have earned several Japan Car of the year awards! like the Galant 1996 with the world's first mass production GDI engine and INVECS.
